A Round Wedding Cake Is The Most Popular Shape

A round wedding cake is the most popular shape of all the different shapes. It can be set up in many different ways. Round just seems to be more pleasing to the eye.

Since the first cake ever made, it was of a round shape. Then as time went on, people came up with different shspes. Round is still the good old stand by.

A round cake can be stacked one tier on top of another with no pillars in between. To do this you need to have a four inch difference in diameter between each tier. If you don't, the cake tiers will be too much the same size, and it will look like a tube. If the tiers have more than a four inch difference, the cake will look out of proportion.

You can also set up the cake with two tiers stacked one on top of the other with the next two tiers each up on pillars. The four inch rule applies to this arrangement also. In the case of a three tier cake, you would have only the top tier on the pillars.

Another popular set-up for a round wedding cake is to have the bottom two tiers stacked one on top of the other, and then have a set of pillars, and then stack the two top cakes on top of each other.

Stacking the three bottom tiers on each other and then have the top tier on pillars is another option.

To make a wedding cake really look grand and tall, put pillars between each tier. This makes the cake look a lot taller.

There really is no front or back to a round wedding cake. If you use flowers for the cake topper, you can look at the cake from any angle, and it should all look the same. The only way you would have a front or a back, is if you use a cake topper that should only be viewed from one side. Then this would be considered the front of your cake.

All decorating on a round cake shape flows around the cake. You shouldn't be able to tell where the decorator started or ended. Everything should be evenly spaced. The one exception to this is if you have flowers trailing down one side of the cake. Usually the cake is frosted smooth and the flowers are the only decoration.
